If you are taking a flight that is longer than 8 hours there are going to be a few considerations you will want to make. Taking along a pillow is going to make the difference between a zombie arriving or a slightly exhausted human. Not known for their comfortable upright sleeping situation, the plane needs a little help in order to make you as comfortable as possible. Neck pillows seem to work best as they offer a wide range of mobility, you can sleep with your head back, to the side or even forward, and they don’t push your head away from the headrest as much as a regular pillow would. Taking along quality headphones, especially if you have noise cancelling, might be a godsend if there are children on your plane. Not only will you be able to focus on your entertainment but if you want to sleep these will help immensely. Bringing along your own food is really the only way to go, as the food served on planes it good for keeping you alive at best. Make some room in your carry on for some sandwiches, bring some snacks and make yourself comfortable. Bring along slippers and comfortable pants for long flights, as you will want to be getting up and stretching your legs every so often to keep the blood circulating. Being able to free your feet from the shoe prisons they are encased in will feel amazing and give you a little bit of reprieve from being in one position for so long. Drinking water often, a sip every few minutes even, will really set you apart from those who don’t. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself in order to stay feeling healthy and happy, it’s very easy to get dehydrated on a plane and that will lead to you feeling listless, irritable, unwell, and affect how quickly you get over the jetlag.
With these tips you can be on your way to having a great trip!
